So I have recently been required to read the Orwell epic, 1984, for school. The novel strikes me to the core as Orwell constructs an evil government so complex that it is able to enslave one's thoughts. He masterfully creates a world where there is no escape; one must obey The Party or be purged. Indeed, Orwell's tale is a satire of the Swiftian variety. A tale seemingly written to promote totalitarian ideals, yet privately is a foreboding warning against the rise of these political systems. This novel has inspired me to create artwork based on the subject matter, which is coming real soon.
